#OneWord Thursday: #Freedom – just another word!

On July 4, 2013 by Janice Taylor

In celebration of the 4th of July, Independence Day 2013, Our Lady of Weight Loss and Janice Taylor, Life & Wellness Coach, Weight Loss Expert, decided to zero in on, to focus on this one word: #Freedom!  Just another word that may bring to mind the expression from the last line of the first verse of Samuel Francis Smith’s poem, “My Country ‘Tis of Thee” (a.k.a. “American, the Beautiful”)…”Let Freedom Ring.”

The poem and song is a celebration of American, both its physical features and all the liberties and freedoms that the citizens (a good many of us) enjoy.  We can imagine the song being sung and heard everywhere across the land (from every mountainside) by its peoples and all of nature.

Here follow 10 quotes that inspire #Freedom!

You wanna fly, you got to give up the shit that weighs you down. ~ Toni Morrison, Song of Solomon

I am no bird; and no net ensnares me: I am a free human being with an independent will. ~ Charlotte Bronte, Jane Eyre

The most important kind of freedom is to be what you really are. You trade in your reality for a role. You trade in your sense for an act. You give up your ability to feel, and in exchange, put on a mask. There can’t be any large-scale revolution until there’s a personal revolution, on an individual level. It’s got to happen inside first. ~ Jim Morrison

Freedom lies in being bold. ~ Robert Frost

The really important kind of freedom involves attention, and awareness, and discipline, and effort, and being able truly to care about other people and to sacrifice for them, over and over, in myriad petty little unsexy ways, every day. ~ David Foster Wallace, This Is Water

Nothing is more difficult, and therefore more precious, than to be able to decide. ~ Napoleon Bonaparte

She had not known the weight until she felt the freedom. ~ Nathaniel Hawthorne, The Scarlet Letter

Freedom’s just another word for “nothing left to lose” ~ Kris Kristofferson

It is the preoccupation with possessions, more than anything else that prevents us from living freely and nobly. ~ Bertrand Russell

I think of a hero as someone who understands the degree of responsibility that comes with his freedom. ~ Bob Dylan
