Is Cinco de Mayo the Mexican Independence
Day? Actually no. Mexico declared its independence from
Spain on midnight, the 15th of September, 1810. It took
an additional 11 years before the first Spanish soldiers
were forced to leave. Cinco de Mayo, The Fifth Of
May, commemorates the victory of the Mexicans over the French
army at The Battle Of Puebla in 1862.
