AbbyLyn loves to crochet, "Crocheting keeps my hands, heart and mind busy. There's no room for thoughts about food, or otherwise. The
repetitive motion, the texture and colors of the yarn, make me feel like I'm free as a bird, flying to the moon. 'They' say you should do what you love and the money will come. So, I am. And when someone purchases one of my crocheted pieces, my moon flight quickens and swirls - to the moon and back!"
If you are interested in one of AbbyLyn's creations, give her a call: 917.701.1245. Each and every piece is an original work of art. And they are a steal!
AbbyLyn, Harlem, New York
Naomi Dagen Bloom's current fiber-art focus is "Condom Amulets." She crochets these masterworks and encourages others to make them, as she brings attention to the growing problem of HIV in seniors. For more on Naomi and her other fabulous projects, visit CityWorm.com

Sending you good wishes and many thanks for helping me tap into my imagination. I call this piece "Matzah on the Brain." I look forward to further redirecting the food frenzy into imaginative and creative work. ~ Kathe

I love to create a rich texture on my canvas by including a variety of papers and mediums. These underlying textures range in everything from music sheets to rice papers, to pages from a childhood nursery rhymes. The cows and other animals express their personalities in my paintings each have their own story. Most of them like to wear make-up, and some like jewelry too!

I am an artist in need of some slimming. You have inspired me to create some art projects to help lose weight. As a matter of fact, when I got your first kick in the tush I brainstormed about 10 ideas. It is such a change to look at weight loss as something fun and creative instead of a big drag. This is my first project and I hope you like it. I needed to remind myself to eat my fruits and veggies. So, here is a cartoon of my svelte self draped in a fabulous fruit and veggie gown. The colours are supplied by the stickers on fruits and veggies (which by the way are a pet peeve of mine!). I hate the way they get all over my kitchen and house, so I asked my family to help me fill in my glamorous dress with stickers from fruits and veggies we ate. It was fun!
I live on a small farm west of Crossfield in Alberta,Canada. I homeschool my 2 children which means I spend a lot of time in the kitchen. I keep my current work on the fridge to remind me to create, rather than eat. I enjoy drawing and painting, especially with watercolour pencils. Hope you enjoy "Fruits and Veggies Rule!" ~ Wendy Brownlee from Crossfield, Alberta, Canada

Although I am still struggling with the pounds, I have finally gotten back to some daily exercise – treadmill/resistance training and of course, the daily walks with the canine kids.
On that note, I was thinking of how much fun it was to “exercise” when we were kids, although we called it playing back then. I had so much fun painting this “Little Green Trike” in fun, happy colours to help keep me motivated – a colourful reminder of the fun in exercising!

I hike, quilt, garden, and love to create in every form. If I am truly involved, I'm not eating. I created this picture when I took a Photoshop class last fall. Now I should try some "Our Lady of Weight Loss" inspired collages. I also did My "Gauguin" while in that class - I "drew" that with a mouse!
I am a member of "The Healthy Lifestyles" group at work that meets once a week and has terrific "healthy" potlucks. ~ Debra Smith
