Color
I think it pisses God off if you walk by the
color purple in a field somewhere and don't notice it.
~ Alice Walker, The Color Purple, 1982

Mother Nature knew what she was doing when she
created fruits and vegetables colorful enough to seduce. Who
could resist a juicy, bright-orange mango in the heat of a
summer's day? From the brilliant red tomato to the powerful
purple grape, all the colors of the rainbow are represented
- and between them they offer a range of nutrients, antioxidants
and other healthful compounds that are powerful enough to
fight cancer, prevent strokes, protect the eyes - even lower
'bad' cholesterol.
Think color - think beauty - think health.
Multi-Colored
Corn Salad - Yellow, Black and Red - rich, vivid and vibrant
- wear sunglasses when serving.
Colorful
Fruit and Greens Salad - Mix it up! Combine fruits, vegetables
with a light vinegrette. A luminous feast.
Make
Food Coloring Crayons. They say its just for the kids,
but I think not.

Dear OLofWL, How can I fit exercise
into my already packed day and maintain the discipline to
make it part of my day - every day? I'm 48 years old and really
concentrating on reducing my dress size and retaining (or
restoring at this point) muscle flexibility. ~ Softer
by the Minute, Apex, NC
Dear Softer by the Minute, I am right there
with you. It's almost impossible - between work, family, and
social obligations, not to mention shopping - to fit in a
workout each and every day. Big chunks of free time are hard
to come by. However, exercise is cumulative, so you can divide
it up into parts - some in the morning, some in the evening
- and get the same results. My advice is to carve out a few
10 or 15 minute segments in the day - perhaps 15 minutes before
work, if possible, take a power walk at lunch time, and then
15 minutes when you get home. And please, let us know how
it goes! ~ OLofWL
